Why I wrote this book:

As someone with a chronic illess, I know all too well that finding a diagnosis and treating a chronic health condition can be like unraveling a mystery — and that’s why characters dealing these issues make natural detectives. The main character in Hidden Rooms embodies the difficulties of living with health challenges yet shows the tremendous capacity we still have to contribute.

All great reads, like this one, have themes or ideas, or just hints, for discussion topics in your book club. Here are a few ideas for you:

How does Hidden Rooms explore women’s experiences with chronic pain and undiagnosed illnesses? Do you have any personal experience with these topics yourself?
Hidden Rooms takes place in a rural farming community. Do you think the book accurately portrays such a community? How does this setting influence the events in the book?
As children, the main character and her brother referred to themselves as twins, but the two have grown apart in adulthood. What do you believe contributed to the distance between them? Do you think it is common for people who are close as children to grow apart as adults?
